A few months ago my family and I went to Horseshoe Bay Resort. It is beautiful there. The scenery was amazing. The resort is spread across 7,000 acres. The main attractions it offers is golfing, spa packages, tennis, and good eats. They have many other things too though. While we were there they had different kid-friendly events, such as movie nights on the lawn, and s’more making that guests could partake in.
We went for a family retreat through the military so we weren’t able to explore everything. Even if we hadn’t been participating in the retreat we wouldn’t have been able to do all the things we wanted to do. This place is huge! We did however get to do some family mini golf that ended before it really fully began. Have you all ever mini golfed with your little humans? Talk about patience. It took us about 35 minutes to get past two holes. TWO HOLES Y’ALL. Crazy right? Needless to say we were done after that. We explained our pain and suffering to the staff and they gave us a rain check to come back later.
So later on that night, when we had childcare for our little humans, my husband and I decided to go back and hit the mini golf course. That didn’t go as planned neither. Something you need to know about me is that I am very competitive. It’s in my blood. I have played soccer all my life. Played college soccer– I like to win y’all. I don’t like to lose. Ever. At anything. When I do lose I can sometimes be a sore loser. Really childish, right? Yes, I know. I told you all I’m working on bettering myself! Okay so here is what happened… we were having fun, enjoying one another’s company, you know kid free. Oh and I was winning! Then came the end of my luck, there was this one hole I could not get the ball in. I tried everything–I even said a silent prayer. I’m so serious, but it was not going in! It took me about 14 tries until I finally was successful. After that I shut down. Of course my super sweet husband was comforting me… instead of laughing at how long it took me. Please note my sarcastic voice! He kept on reminding me what the score was. I was silent and focused on getting the lead back. It didn’t happen. It was a bust.
Then after mini golf my husband whipped me in ping pong. Ugh. I couldn’t catch a break. Needless to say I didn’t have the best night. On the bright side, I did get to spend alone time with my husband, which happens very rarely!
Moral of the story– if you are competitive mini golf is not for you. It’s not even fair y’all (I know I sound like a child) but I’m serious it is pure luck when you win at that game. Let us all agree on this!
Are you competitive? Does it ever mess up any date nights? How often do you and your man go on date nights or alone trips?!
